Alley Interactive is a team of experienced developers, designers, and user experience architects who tackle the most complex challenges facing publishers, news organizations, and large-scale non-profit institutions.We are seeking a User Experience (UX) Designer to join our growing UX + design practice.At Alley, we believe that design and development must be closely aligned for a project to succeed, and that every project will be more efficient with a tightly integrated team.
We believe that much of the design process should happen in the browser using front end technologies.
As a UX Designer at Alley, you will be responsible for the visual design of our work.We execute our work through agile sprints that move from design studios and ideation through prototyping to user testing and iteration.
In any given sprint you will be planning future features, supporting back-end developers, and adjusting designs based on user research feedback.ResponsibilitiesCreate wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that meet client goals, interpreting requirements, analytics, research, and industry best practicesSupport our team as it implements your work through annotations and ongoing collaborationCollaborate with our frontend development team to develop style tiles and style guidesParticipate in design and development QAQualificationsAt least 3 years of professional experienceA strong portfolio that includes wireframes and web design samples, showing your thought process as well as final deliverablesA solid understanding of the website development processFamiliarity with productivity tools including Google Apps and SlackComfort receiving and responding to peer feedback in our internal review processAbility to meet deadlines across multiple projectsBonus Points ifYou have worked on large-scale news media and entertainment sites, for an agency, or on a distributed teamYou know HTML and CSSYou want to work in the Northeast corridor, between Washington D.C.
