Headquarters: Boston, MA

SkyVerge is looking for a talented full-stack Rails engineer to join our team and help build our Jilt eCommerce email marketing product.

You'll write code that helps power mission-critical features for hundreds of online stores. The RoleYou’ll be focused on building new features and maintaining code for Jilt, while also helping with customer support and code reviews.

You might work on improving the onboarding flow for a week, then switch focus to our REST API for a while, and later work on performance improvements for our persistence layer.

This is a full-stack position so you should be comfortable (and enjoy!) working on all the different layers of an application. You’ll have the opportunity to really dive into a problem and understand it before crafting a well-engineered, high quality solution.

We believe the best work happens when given lots of uninterrupted time to think and code.We work primarily through GitHub and Slack, so you should be able clearly express your ideas via comments and messages.

All new code is tested and peer-reviewed, so you’ll be able to both learn from the rest of the team and share your knowledge. Our stack is Ruby 2.3/Rails 4.2 (upgrading soon to 2.4/5.0) and we make heavy use of Sidekiq for background processing.

We write all JS in CoffeeScript and use Slim for templating.

All apps are hosted on Heroku and we use CircleCI for continuous integration, and Postgres for persistence.YouYou love solving engineering challenges in the most pragmatic way possible.

You write code that's clear, readable, and standards-compliant.

More importantly, you keep the end user in mind and love getting feedback from customers to help improve our products. You're excited to join a small team that loves their work as much as you do, and affords the opportunity to work on interesting projects, continuously learn and improve, and to constantly ship cool projects.

You're an excellent communicator, whether written, in person, or via video chat (native-level English fluency is required).

You know that code is about communication and that explaining yourself clearly goes hand-in-hand.Our team is fully remote and stays in touch primarily via Slack and weekly stand-ups over Zoom.

That said, we believe face time is valuable.

Availability for 1-2 company-paid team trips (SkyTrip!) per year is necessary. This is a full-time, salaried position, but hours are flexible.

We know your work will speak for itself with commits, issues closed, and wiki edits.

However, fit with our team and culture is important.

As a result, all of our team members go through a 30-day period as a contractor before becoming a permanent team member.

This helps us (and you) make sure we’re an ideal match.

If not, either one of us can say, “Thanks!" and move on to different projects.ProcessFollowing an interview, we’ll ask you to complete a small paid project.

If this goes well, we’ll invite you to our join the team and start your 30-day contract period.BenefitsHere are some benefits we're excited to offer to our team members:Competitive salaryPerformance incentives for meeting team and company goals25 days of paid time-off, in addition to 2 company holidaysMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance for US and Canadian residents and their families (reimbursements for comparable care for non-US/Canadian residents)Retirement plan with company matchThe tools (hardware/software) you need to be productiveAllowance for professional growth (e.g.
